Regulator: Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan (RMA)
Bhutan is taking measured steps toward the adoption of digital assets, though stablecoin activity remains highly limited. Cryptocurrency isn't legal for the general public or financial institutions; however, geo-specific initiatives like those in Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) allow crypto mining and exchange within that special zone. Additionally, Bhutan launched a crypto tourism payment system via Binance Pay, enabling tourists to pay with crypto at select merchants. The Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) retains tight control and only grants crypto operations within the defined GMC framework.
