U.S. Bank National Association is an OCC-chartered U.S. national bank (charter no. 24) and a subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp. On 9 September 2026 it announced a live internal pilot of USBDC, its proprietary U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin, for a cross-border payment between U.S. Bank entities in North America and Europe on the Stellar public blockchain. The pilot tested minting, redemption, freezing, and clawback on the bank's internally developed Digital Asset Platform. No client or commercial launch date has been announced; stated exploration areas include liquidity management, collateral mobility, and cross-border treasury.
